White County boys and Lumpkin County girls still maintain the top spots in our BLITZ Soccer Power Rankings in the mid-season feature. Lumpkin and Rabun boys on the move!
BOYS
#1 White Co Warriors
Last Ranking: #1; no change
6-5 (0-2 Region 7-AAAA)
Marist and Blessed Trinity games are finally out of the way, so expect for the Warriors to capitalize on the West Hall game on Friday. A win secures a state playoff trip, with Chestatee (11-1) the only other region game left. A lot of pressure to win on the road at West Hall.
#2 Lumpkin Co Indians
Last Ranking: #4; ↑ 2 spots
7-4 (3-1 Region 7-AAA)
A very nice surprise this season! 5-1 in last six games, outscoring opponents 18-5 in that span. So close to securing a spot to state.
#3 Habersham Central Raiders
Last Ranking: #3; no change
4-6 (3-3 Region 8-AAAAAA)
Close loss to Lanier hurts, as the Raiders had beaten them the first time around. Gainesville is next (undefeated), but the playoff hopes ride on how Habersham does against Winder (L 2-3 last meeting) and Apalachee (beat 2-0 last time). A tough region…
#4 Rabun Co Wildcats
Last Ranking: #7; ↑ 3 spots
4-2 (3-0 Region 8-AA)
A great story here for Rabun County, as Tito Diaz and company have ripped off three straight wins by a score of 10-1. Next three games are very winnable. State is a lock!
#5 Dawson Co Tigers
Last Ranking: #2; down ↓ 3 spots
3-6 (1-2 Region 7-AAA)
Four game losing streak for the Tigers, and their playoff hopes are in serious jeopardy. A lot of work to do…
#6 Union Co Panthers
Last Ranking: #5; down ↓ 1 spot
2-6-2 (0-4-1 Region 7-AAA)
A rare season with no playoffs for Union. Only one region contest left against GAC, followed by a handful of non-region games.
#7 Stephens Co Indians
Last Ranking: #6; down ↓ 1 spot
1-6 (0-1 Region 8-AAAA)
Stephens County has only 8 goals in 7 games, so hopefully the offense can help generate more wins.
#8 Banks Co Leopards
Last Ranking: #9; ↑ 1 spot
1-9-1 (1-2-1 Region 8-AA)
#9 Towns Co Indians
Last Ranking: #8; down ↓ 1 spot
0-4 (0-0 Region 8-A)
GIRLS

#1 Lumpkin Co Lady Indians
Last Ranking: #1; no change
9-2 (3-1 Region 7-AAA)
Lumpkin continues to play very well. It’s a matter of how far they can go in state this year – we’d love another Final 4 run like they did a couple of seasons ago.
#2 Dawson Co Lady Tigers
Last Ranking: #2; no change
7-2 (2-1 Region 7-AAA)
Really looking forward to the region showdown with Lumpkin, which will be a top-10 showdown for two state powerhouse programs trying for a better seed in the state playoffs.
#3 White Co Lady Warriors
Last Ranking: #3; no change
4-5-2 (0-2 Region 7-AAAA)
Don’t let this fool you — this team is good! Bella Ramey and company just played four straight against a #1 or #2-ranked team in the state. The first two weren’t pretty, but the second two losses the girls played well, showing that this makes them tougher for the stretch run. A win over West Hall secures state for them.
#4 Stephens Co Lady Indians
Last Ranking: #4; no change
6-3-1 (0-2 Region 8-AAAA)
Erin Carter and coach Sita Preston are driving toward state. 0-2 isn’t the start they wanted in region, but a win over Oconee or Madison might do the trick.
#5 Towns Co Lady Indians
Last Ranking: #8; ↑ 3 spots
3-2 (0-0 Region 8-A)
Look out for this team! Could do some damage the rest of the way…
#6 Union Co Lady Panthers
Last Ranking: #5; ↓ 1 spot
6-4 (1-4 Region 7-AAA)
Lady Panthers dropped three straight and state is now essentially out of the question…but they can still build momentum for the future!
#7 Rabun Co Wildcats
Last Ranking: #9; ↑ 2 spots
3-4 (3-0 Region 8-AA)
Great start to region play…state is happening!
#8 Banks Co Lady Leopards
Last Ranking: #6; ↓ 2 spots
3-7 (2-1 Region 8-AA)
#7 Habersham Central Lady Raiders
Last Ranking: #7; ↓ 2 spots
1-8-2 (0-6 Region 8-AAAAAA)
