We’re past the halfway point of the 2018 season, and we’ve seen so good ball from Stephens County and Habersham Central. Commerce, Banks and Lumpkin have all jumped in our rankings.

#1 Stephens Co Indians
Previous Rank: #1: No Change
14-1 (0-0 Region 8-AAAA)
Region play is now upon us, so we’ll see just how well the #4-ranked Indians fare against their region foes. With Davis Swenson and Dawson Sorrells making a spectacular one-two punch on the hill, this team is SPECIAL!
#2 Habersham Central Raiders
Previous Rank: #2: No Change
8-3 (0-0 Region 8-AAAAAA)
The Raiders enter region play about like they did last year — looking very strong. Last year, the region slate proved very unfavorable to Habersham, who missed the playoffs by the skin of their teeth. This time, they’ll look for Hunter Ingle (.367 avg, 12 RBI) and Peyton Irvin (3-0, 1.02 ERA, 28 K) to lead the way, as well as Jarred Jones in an attempt to grab a top-four spot in the region standings.
#3 Commerce Tigers
Previous Rank: #4: ↑ 1 spot
10-7 (1-0 Region 8-A)
The Tigers are on the uptick. They’ve beaten others on this list like Rabun, Lumpkin and Towns. They’d love to have losses to Union and Banks back, but they’ve split with each of them.
#4 Banks Co Leopards
Previous Rank: #7: ↑ 3 spots
8-7 (4-2 Region 8-AA)
Banks County is looking more like the team we’re familiar with. If it can garner a few more region wins, a state berth is all locked up.
#5 Lumpkin Co Indians
Previous Rank: #6: ↑ 1 spot
8-6 (3-4 Region 7-AAA)
The Indians have a lot of work to do, but they hold their destiny in their own hands to make the playoffs in 2018.
#6 Dawson Co Tigers
Previous Rank: #5: ↓ 1 spot
5-9 (1-5 Region 7-AAA)
Dawson County is in danger of not making the playoffs in a tough region 7-AAA. However, there’s still time and opportunities to ensure they can be a top-four team out of this region, and they certainly have the talent to do so.
#7 Union Co Panthers
Previous Rank: #3: ↓ 4 spots
5-6 (0-3 Region 7-AAA)
It’s been a tough four-game losing streak for the Panthers, who were swept in a three-game region set with Lumpkin County which could prove to be problematic in a playoff push.
#8 Tallulah Falls Indians
Previous Rank: #9: ↑ 1 spot
4-4 (0-0 Region 8-A)
#9 White Co Warriors
Previous Rank: #8: ↓ 1 spot
4-8 (0-4 Region 7-AAAA)
#10 Rabun Co Wildcats
Previous Rank: #10: No Change
1-6 (0-0 Region 8-AA)
