The Union County Panthers unveiled their 2018 football schedule this week, with the slate highlighted by a scrimmage against Habersham Central and non-region games against East Hall, Towns County and Fannin County.
The Panthers’ head coach, Brian Allison, who enters his 23rd season as a head coach, led Union to a 6-4 record in 2017, although the Panthers fell just short of making the state playoffs for the fifth straight season.

*Denotes Region 8-AA game
The final regular season game comes with much intrigue, as the Panthers and Wildcats battled for years for supremacy in Region 8-AA before Union County left for a couple years to Region 7-AAA. After the two-year hiatus, the Panthers return home to 8-AA.
The 2018 season will mark the 17th year for Allison at Union, as he coached from 1996-2001 and from 2008 to present. In Union’s history, dating back to 1957, the Panthers have a .456 winning percentage, and last won a region title in 1973 (as well as 1972). Allison, who is 123-103 overall in his career, needs just two more wins for 100 at Union County.
