The Dawson boys and girls both came up big Tuesday night with wins over Union County.
The Tigers (13-4; 5-0) used a clutch 12-2 run in final 2:45 of game to defeat the Panthers 48-45. The Tigers control their own destiny in region 7-AAA.
Junior Trey Pruitt came up with arguably the two biggest shots of the season for him so far, with a game-tying 3-pointer and the game-winning basket as well. Cullen Reed had 12 points and 6 rebounds, while Pruitt also had 12 points, and Jeremiah Crumley had 9 points and 6 rebounds.
The Lady Tigers (10-7; 2-3) needed a win in a bad way, and got one with a 54-42 win over the Lady Panthers (11-5; 3-2) in a key region matchup in Dawsonville.
Dawson led throughout the contest, and was led by Anna Lowe’s 12 points. Abi Chatham, Sophia D’Oliveira, and Cadey Ayers all had 8 points each, while Kaylee Sticker and Chloe Bennett scored 6 each. Kati Brady and Calli Watson rounded out the scoring with three points apiece.
