The Union County High School swim team and senior Aidan Francis qualified for state in the 50-yard freestyle. The boys relay team also qualified in the 200-yard freestyle relay event. Junior Grayson Blocker, freshman Luke Gambrell, Francis and sophomore Brian Williams make up the relay team.
Classes 1A through 5A compete against each other in the state meet at Georgia Tech on February 2-3. The last time the Union swim team made state was five years ago.
“Our boys have worked so hard and I am extremely proud of their efforts,” says coach Kathy Mancuso. “We will continue to work to decrease our times to make a great showing at state.”
