YOUNG HARRIS SPORTS INFORMATION – Young Harris College women’s golfer Candler Kimsey was named to the All-Invitational team as the Mountain Lions finished in sixth place Tuesday (Oct. 10) afternoon at the Patsy Rendleman Invitational hosted by Catawba College.

The Mountain Lions shot a season best score of 299 on tha par 72, 5,973-yard layout at the Country Club of Salisbury to complete the 36-hole event at 606. Lenoir-Rhyne University won the 17-team tournament with its second consecutive round of 295 to finish play at 590.

Kimsey finished in a tie for third place at 143 after posting a two-under par score of 70 – one stroke off her all-time low round – in the final round. The 143 total also established a new 36-hole career score, shaving three strokes off her previous best of 146. Kimsey is the second YHC golfer to be named to the All-Invitational team at the event as teammate Hannah Walker was on the all-tournament team a year ago.
Walker also finished in the top 20 as she finished in a tie for 13th place at 150 with a final round of 74, while Christie Blaurock came in a tie for 35th at 156 after shooting a 78. Reece Brooks shot a 77 in the final round and tied for 42nd place at 157, while Savannah Rainboltposted an 81 and tied for 61st place at 163.
The Mountain Lions wrap up their fall season Monday (Oct. 16) when they travel to Dahlonega, Georgia, to compete in the UNG LeeAnn Noble Memorial hosted by the University of North Georgia.
