Game Of The Week: Banks County vs Rabun County
Our Game of the Week takes us into Homer for the first time since a 2020 meeting against Union County. It’ll feature the Leopards taking on the high-flying #1-ranked Rabun County Wildcats.
The Leopards are trying to find something…anything to build on as the season progresses. It’s been a tough ride so far, as Banks is 1-5 overall, with the one win coming over Lumpkin County. In that September 10 matchup, the Leopards scored 26 of their 53 total points this year.
Rabun County is straight up rolling. With the recent win a couple of weeks ago over #3-ranked, defending state champions Pierce County, all of South Georgia is now believing what most everyone else already knew – this team is ready for a state title. Gunner Stockton last week set the state record for total TDs, surpassing Deshaun Watson. Every TD he scores from here on out only puts the record even more out of reach. The offense, which has scored 46 points per contest on average, is ranked 3rd in Class 2A at the moment. The defense is also top-10 in its classification.
