College Spotlight: White County alum Adam Johnson having big success at Cumberlands

White County alum Adam Johnson has had a huge start to his junior season at the University of the Cumberlands. For Johnson, his efforts in the Patriots’ opening win over #11-ranked Southeaster University led him to being honored as the Mid-South Conference Appalachian Division Defensive Player of the Week recently.

Crump Tall GIF 2018In the 27-26 win, the linebacker tallied six tackles, 0.5 tackles for loss, a forced fumble and an interception. The pick for Johnson resulted in a 48-yard return for a game-winning touchdown.

Johnson this past weekend against Cincinnati Christian picked up two more tackles and anoter 0.5 for loss. For his career to date, he has 59 tackles (6 for loss), 1.5 sacks, a forced fumble and an interception.

Johnson, a criminal justice / psychology major, was a big part of the White County Warriors defense from 2012-2015, helping the Warriors to 25 wins in that span, including three straight state playoff trips from 2012-14 and a second round appearance in 2013 that came with a #10 state ranking.
